I knew this would happen. I knew I was getting screwed. THANKS.
*huff*
Last semester, I took the senior seminars in Interactive so I could finish the concentration and, you know, get a job doing that kind of thing. Key words: GET A JOB. This field is competitive, even more so with the crappy e-word. I wanted to make sure I was learning everything I could so I'd have the skills I needed to land A JOB. So I was
quite disappointed (understatement of my college career) that my professor decided to teach us ActionScript
2. See, the semester previous, we had another prof who was teaching us ActionScript
3, because it's the
current version. And I was heading into these classes expecting to learn more AS
3, because it's the
current version. But no, he decided to teach us AS
2, which is the
not current version, a.k.a.
useless knowledge because this is a competitive industry in technology where knowing old versions of things will not get you A JOB.
Today, a recruiter saw my resumé online and called me. A recruiter. Called me. He left a voicemail and wants to discuss my skills in ActionScript 3. THAT'S ALSO KNOWN AS A POSSIBLE
JOB OFFER. What do I know about AS 3? A few lines of code. Now I have to talk to the guy and try to convince him not to stop listening after he hears "not exactly a master of ActionScript 3."
DAMMIT.
